Building my organ

      Steps to modifying the Keyboards

I added an "Expression" input to the keyboards, using the Modulation Wheel connection, to control the Swell, Crescendo, etc. pedals in HW. I also used the input to control the stepper UP and DOWN from an external switch (such as a toe stud).

Remove the screws on the bottom of the keyboard and carefully lift the cover up. Repeat these steps for each keyboard.

Note: This likely voids the warranty

Remove the 4 white connectors from the Printed Circuit Board to separate the cover to allow Expression Pedal input modification.

Unsolder the 3 wires connected to the Modulation Wheel, noting where each color wire is connected.

Add a stereo Phono Jack to the rear panel and wire it to the Modulation Wheel connector. The Expression Pedal will connect to this jack. Hauptwerk will be trained to recognize the expression pedal,

Wire the Phono Jack to the Modulation Wheel wires as shown.

Reconnect the white connectors. Close the cover and verify operation by connecting the USB Connector to the computer and the Expression Pedal to the added Phono Jack

The Pitch and Modulation Wheels will not be used with Hauptwerk.

After operation has been verified, replace all bottom screws and mount the keyboard in the cabinet.

I use the MIDI Monitor App to verify operation of the Keyboards and Pedalboard without the need to activate Hauptwerk.
